MiEnergy announces Peak Energy alert- Jan. 6
Cresco, IA | Rushford, MN (3:30 p.m. Jan. 6, 2017)—MiEnergy Cooperative is issuing a peak energy alert to address the high demand for electricity in the regional power market. MiEnergy asks members to help by reducing their electric use.
When peak energy alerts are announced during energy conservation is critical.
MiEnergy will begin full load control at 4:50 p.m. This includes peak alert account generators, manual shut down accounts and grain dryers. Residential members participating in the cooperative’s load management programs for electric heating systems and water heaters will also be controlled from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Members can check out the load control status links on MiEnergy’s website, www.MiEnergy.coop,for specific control parameters.
Members with electric heating systems must have a functional backup heating system that is automatic and capable of heating the entire house during load control periods in order to participate in MiEnergy’s load management program. Members on the water heater program must have water heaters large enough to provide hot water during the control period.
