Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives (IAEC)
The IAEC is the Des Moines-based service organization representing the rural electric cooperatives of Iowa. It provides the co-ops with safety training, legislative research and lobbying, communication resources, youth activities and industry education programs. The IAEC represents 35 distribution cooperatives in Iowa and six generation and transmission cooperatives providing electricity to approximately 650,000 Iowans in each of the state’s 99 counties.
National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)
NRECA is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of consumer-owned cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve.
Touchstone Energy is an alliance of local, member-owned electric cooperatives providing high standards of service to customers, large and small.
Iowa One Call
Whether you’re trenching in a field, planting a tree or digging a foundation, Iowa law requires everyone to locate underground utilities before digging. First, contact Iowa One Call to begin the discovery process, then wait 48 hours (excluding Saturday, Sunday and legal holidays) before any digging begins. This service is FREE and it’s the law. Safe Electricity® is an award-winning, multi-media public awareness program of the Energy Education Council (EEC). Safe Electricity® provides information to consumers and helps compliment the safety education activities of utilities and educators. The program provides life-saving information through many channels including great resources for teachers and parents along with interactive games and activities for kids.
Iowa Utilities Board (IUB)
The Utilities Board, as stated in Iowa Code §§ 476 through 479B, regulates the rates and services of electric, natural gas, and water utilities, the services of communications utilities, and generally supervises all pipelines and the transmission, sale, and distribution of electrical current.
