Extended Power Outages
Please be patient as crews work hard to restore your power

Extensive power outages affected 3,732 Hawkeye REC members. |

Crews are currently working at the seven substations that were without power caused by the severe ice and wind storms.
We are following standard utility practice in repairing and energizing lines. This means the linecrews start the repairs at the substations. This is important to understand, because without power from the substations, simply fixing members' individual lines first will not bring the electricity back on.
From there, crews work on critical devices/breakers that circle the substation. Hawkeye lost power the west half of our system and as soon as these critical devices are repaired, crews will start working on secondary and individual lines. This is where the broken poles and downed power lines will cause extended outages for our members.
At 12:30 on Sunday, Dairyland Power Cooperative crews worked on three of our substations (Devon, Wapsie and Alta Vista) to restore power. This is the first major step in power restoration efforts. However, if you live in these areas, please make precautionary plans for the next couple of days as it will take extended time to restore these outages.
Hawkeye appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time. We are working hard to "get the lights on" for our members. We have requested additional crews from neighboring cooperatives to help restore power. (Oakdale, Eau Claire, Vernon, Electric Cooperatives in Wisconsin)
Please feel free to call for updates or more information and we will be happy to assist you to the best of our knowledge about the current situations. With over 2,200 members still without power, our staff is working hard to assist you.
Remember "Safety First" and stay away from downed power lines.
