L & R Manufacturing
By Meagan Seele
"They love to see the flaming forge and hear the bellows blow, and catch the fiery sparks that fly, like chaff from a threshing floor." Remember reading Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, The Village Blacksmith? There is a modern day business served by Hawkeye R.E.C. where the sparks still do fly! It's L & R Manufacturing and they have recently created a new look in a new location. In September, their business relocated from Lawler to 2498 Highway 24 near New Hampton, Iowa.
At the new site, production and office space doubled to over 20,000 square feet. Tina and Darel Reicks own L & R Manufacturing. The business has a unique background that dates to 1981. Darel and his father started to manufacture custom parts for local farmers in the garage at their farm. They manufactured custom parts ranging from grain bin equipment to hog equipment. Three years later, Darel bought the business from his father and slowly grew in production and services. In 1988 they moved the operation to Lawler and gained a reputation for custom metal fabrication for commercial and private individuals in our area.
Their business has continued to expand and in 2002 they offer services such as floor drains, free stall scrapers, tractor and skid loader buckets, and tanks including (chemical and manure vacuum tanks) etc. They also do miscellaneous custom jobs to customer specifications in both regular and stainless steel. These can be found in both commercial and industrial applications. L & R Manufacturing currently has 10 employees providing efficient business with a friendly atmosphere. Call Darel with all of your questions or requests dealing with metal fabrication, and receive expert knowledge and service. |
