Sweet Computers

Sweet, an Ortivus Company, is the industry leader in computer software for the Emergency Medical Services profession. Sweet was founded in 1978 by David A. Sweet, a firefighter and EMT-I Ñ then living in West Union, Iowa Ñ with computer programming experience. On January 1, 2001, Sweet Computer Services, Inc. was acquired by Ortivus, a Swedish-based company specializing in medical informatics. David Sweet still remains active in the organization, serving as the Executive Vice President.

Sweet not only pioneered the EMS software industry, but has remained the uncontested leader as well, serving more than twice as many customers as the nearest competitor. Sweet products serve more than 1,800 customers in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Kenya. Customers range in size from small, volunteer services to major metropolitan emergency medical services, including volunteer, fire, hospital and private organizations. Sweet's software products are flexible enough to meet the diverse needs of ground and air ambulances, fire/rescue units, hospital-based services and government and private services.

Sweet currently has 57 full-time and 7 part-time employees living in area towns, such as Decorah, Calmar, West Union, Ossian, Cresco, Maynard and Waukon. After 23 years in West Union, Iowa, Sweet relocated its headquarters to 2324 Sweet Parkway Road in Decorah, Iowa, just off highway 9 (past the airport).

Keeping pace with the constant evolution of both the EMS industry and software technology, Sweet has expanded to provide additional services, including SweetSoft University training programs and a site on the World Wide Web Ñ www.sweetcs.com Ñ to provide additional information and enhance communication with customers.

Sweet employees actively participate in several state and national associations to stay informed of current trends within the industry. Sweet also supports several management and education functions for EMS personnel, thereby maintaining their commitment to improve and provide the highest quality of care for EMS services nationwide.

Sweet employees have collectively accumulated over 150 years of in-field and management experience as EMS professionals. This experience provides their customers with innovative software products and access to a knowledgeable support staff unmatched by anyone in the industry. Sweet strives to maintain these standards, and is always looking for good people to add to their team.
