Energy minded North Winneshiek School is trying to light up the lives of their students while saving energy through an extensive lighting project over the next couple of years. This year, lights were replaced in the gymnasium and administrative offices. Superintendent-Principal Tim Dugger contacted your local electric cooperative to inquire about the rebate program regarding the 19 new fixtures in the gymnasium. Each fixture includes eight T-8 fluorescent bulbs which have more lumens (light output) and use 50% less energy when compared to the old fixtures.

The school received a customer rebate of $2,000 toward the $10,000 project. Superintendent-Principal Tim Dugger receives the rebate check from Hawkeye REC director Dean Nierling.
