Crews rebuild power lines near Cresco

Hawkeye REC rebuilds 3 1/2 milles of distribution line west of Cresco on Highway 9

Hawkeye line crews started upgrading 3 1/2 miles of distribution line west of Cresco. This enables us to have more flexibility and greater reliability.

"Our system is growing and we need to distribute more electricity to our west." states operations manager Roger Halverson. This line ties Cresco, Saratoga, Schley and Lime Springs substations together.

'We pride ourselves by having good reliability for our members," said CEO Tom Miller. "I was surprised by the number of people wondering what we were doing out there." The estimated cost of this overhead line is $240,000.
