| Raw Apple Bars
Mix together and set aside:
2 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. nutmeg
1/4 t. baking soda
Mix together in a large bowl and beat:
1/2 c. soft butter
2 c. sugar
Add 2 eggs and 2 t. vanilla and beat together again
Peel, core and shred raw apples to make 4 cups. Add apples to butter mixture. Add:
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. cooked raisins
Add all to flour mixture and stir by spoon (not mixer). The batter will be stiff. Bake in 9 X 13 pan for 50 minutes at 350 degrees.
Topping:
Heat and stir until mixture boils, remove from heat. Try to serve this topping while warm.

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. evaporated milk
