Door-to-door scammer in rural Winona area: Claims co-op billing error and 11% credit available

Cresco, IA | Rushford, MN  10:30 a.m. September 14, 2018)— MiEnergy Cooperative has been notified of a possible scam. A member contacted the cooperative today about a man that had stopped by their residence in rural Winona yesterday. The man had a MiEnergy shirt on and claimed there was a billing error and if he could see or have a copy of their electric bill the cooperative would give them an 11 percent credit or rebate. The member told the man the spouse took care of the bills and a copy was not available.

Rushford area lineworkers restore power in Wisconsin

Cresco, IA | Rushford, MN (7:30 a.m. September 5, 2018)— Two crews from MiEnergy Cooperative left August 29 and spent a few days in Wisconsin assisting Oakdale Electric Cooperative, of Tomah, and Vernon Electric Cooperative, of Westby, in restoring power following storms that rolled through on August 27.

Lucas Gravos, Noah Manning, Andy Prinsen and Tony Rislove, all of Rushford, volunteered to help their counterparts and saw firsthand the destruction left behind from the storms.

Cooperatives to bring broadband to underserved rural areas

Harmony, Minn. (12:30 p.m. July 24, 2018) – Three local cooperatives announced their intent to create a company, MiBroadband, to serve fixed wireless broadband to areas of Southeast Minnesota and Northeast Iowa.

At a media event Tuesday, July 24, Mabel Cooperative Telephone Company, MiEnergy Cooperative and Spring Grove Communications revealed they are in the early stages of making high-speed internet a reality for underserved rural areas.
